We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Southern Laughter Backpackers. The private cottage was the perfect location for us as older travelers, providing us with the privacy and comfort we desired. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that everything was kept very clean, despite the older furniture in the kitchen. The off-street parking was also a big plus. we had a great experience and would recommend this accommodation to others.

We were pleasantly surprised to have our own kitchenette in the four bed dorm. Frisbee golf disks are available for free. Reasonably priced accommodation with a great location in downtown. Pleasant staff. Good-sized communal kitchen with a terrace offering stunning mountain views. Close to Queenstown city centre, within a short walking distance.
Felt so much at home, no reason to complain.

the spa was a nice feature and provided some relaxation. I also enjoyed the swings scattered around the hostel, a fun touch. The free soup was a nice bonus as well, at least they got something right.
This place was a complete letdown. The room was tiny and cramped, barely enough space for our belongings.

Staying at Southern Laughter Backpackers was a wonderful experience. The room I stayed in was like a small family suite, complete with a convenient kitchen. This made it easy for my parents to have breakfast without waiting in line for the shared kitchen. Also, the hostel has plenty of free parking spaces, which is great for those who are travelling by car. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and they even offered free soup in the evening, a nice touch during the winter. The location of the hostel is perfect, right by the gondola and within easy walking distance of everything.
I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Free soup and popcorn were a nice touch, adding to the cozy atmosphere. The location was great, just a short walk from downtown and the gondola.- Parking, though limited, was free and conveniently located.
The room was a bit dated and could use some updating. Limited outlets by the beds made it inconvenient for charging devices.

Guests also appreciate the helpful and friendly staff at the reception. Additionally, there are shared kitchen facilities available for guests to use, complete with cooking amenities and a common area for relaxation and entertainment.
Some guests have mentioned that the sound insulation in the rooms is poor, with plywood walls making it easy to hear noises from other areas of the hostel.
